Come along with us as we take on Big Bend National Park and hike some amazing trails with our kids. Aurelia is 7 and Odin is 4, almost 5, and we have been slowly introducing them to hiking. We have been slowly adding distance and more challenging terrain. They are both doing great and adapting well to the elevation.
In this video we spent the day doing three hikes in the park.
First hike was the Window View Trail – a nice easy 0.4 mile loop from the parking lot on a paved walkway with some amazing views of the canyon down below.
Second hike was the Chisos Basin Loop Trail – a moderately challenging 1.9 mile loop on dirt trail with elevation gains and descents. The views were spectacular of the mountains.
Third hike was the Grapevine Hills Trail – a relatively flat 2.2 mile loop trail that has a .25 mile section of rock scrambling to see the reward of Balanced Rock.
